SOAS Watch

This website and the postings on it relate exclusively to a single programme, the Southeast Asian Art Academic Programme (SAAAP) at SOAS. This programme is of public interest especially because of its size (about USD21 million) and its impact on those of us working in the field of Southeast Asian art in Southeast Asia and elsewhere. I would like to emphasise that the particular problems identified in SAAAP should never be assumed to implicate other parts of SOAS. For example, first-rate work is being undertaken by staff members and students in departments across SOAS which advances the university’s longstanding leadership in Southeast Asian Studies. This exemplary work should not be impugned because of the specific managerial issues at SAAAP.
