Hello, I’m Angela Chiu. I completed a MA and a PhD (the latter in Thai art history) at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. From January 2013 until October 2016, I was a Research Associate of the Department of the History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS. In November 2015, I founded a SOAS Southeast Asia Alumni group on Facebook. My book, The Buddha in Lanna: Art, Lineage, Power, and Place in Northern Thailand (University of Hawai’i Press), was published in 2017.
SOAS is a special place, and I love it. My hope is that bringing attention to problems of accountability, transparency and fairness will help improve management of the university and benefit students and staff.
